Every Wednesday, I meet up with my mother, Frances for tea and a wonderful conversation, which has, over the past few months, become our time to create a podcast discussion. We meet in her sewing room amongst the material, patterns and threads – a perfect acoustic environment for recording our voices. We set up a mic, close the door and talk. It seems simple enough but facing a mic and wondering what to say next is rather daunting. A huge thank you Mom, for heading into the podcasting unknown with me every Wednesday.
Tomorrow, our neighbours to the South will be celebrating Thanksgiving. Frances and I will be joining the festivities as we remember Thanksgiving in the past.

Thank you, Gallivanta. Just recently I was taking photographs of an art installation, downtown Vancouver transit station. The artist is Debra Sparrow, a Musqueam weaver, artist and Knowledge keeper. The idea of knowledge keeper is significant and inspires me to look back into our memories as well as recording our time. So “Wednesday with Frances” will be my of being a “knowledge keeper.”

Knowledge keepers are so important. Unfortunately, we, the modern generation, seem to have given that job to Mr Google. 😦 He is very good but we need to be our own individual knowledge keepers too.

How very very well said! For 2020, I have purchased a daytime program that I uses the pen and paper type of recording. I find that I am losing the flow of handwriting. Fingers have stiffened to adjust to typing. Here is to a new year of “knowledge keeping.”

Knowledge-building is a complex activity. It involves evaluation, interpretation, integration, and synthesis to reach new, higher levels of understanding. Sorry, Mr. Google, you’re just not up to the job.

You always always give a smile and laughter to my day, Liz!! No, Mr. Google, you are a happy friend, but there are other friends that will give us more insight. Your thoughts on knowledge-building remind me that we have a responsibility to do our part. We need to give time to evaluation, interpretation, integration and synthesis. It is so easy to short-cut these “tasks” by simply adopting the thoughts of others who have gone through these steps. Something to consider!!!!

I’m trying to keep up with this lovely, lively community while convalescing from leg fractures and surgery. As a pedestrian, elderly and handicapped by the way :), I was hit with a car driven by a clearly distracted driver. Not to elicit anything more than your good wishes, I simply mean to let you know I’m catching up and looking forward to each of your wonderful and inspiring podcasts. I’m filled with gratitude, and sharing it brings so much inspiration. I really look forward to this podcast 🙂 Hugs!!

OH NO!!!! I am so glad to hear that you survived and that you are on the mend. This is the best news to celebrate Thanksgiving. You will be in our thoughts and prayers as you take the journey of healing in the next weeks. We all appreciate your visits, comments and presence.
