Episode 13: Telling Our Stories

Welcome to Tea Toast & Trivia!

Today is Storytelling time.

We love narratives.

We read novels, watch movies, attend theatre productions  and follow  television miniseries.  Why?  To find a story, to share the joys, hopes, challenges that will lead to a happily ever-after conclusion.

How do we tell our story?

I invite you to put the kettle on and  join Sarah, Frances and me as we discuss the importance of sharing our personal narratives.

I am your host Rebecca Budd and I am looking forward to sharing this moment with you.

We encourage you to share your story.  As Mary Oliver once wrote, “Instructions for living a life. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”

I count it a privilege to be included in this discussion. Each of our personal stories are so important and I am afraid that we do not respect the happenings in our lives as much as we really should. It is true, if we do not tell our stories, who can tell or write them. When I was writing both my husband’s and my my stories, I tried to find out about who and where and what happened in our grandparents lives. Do you know just how little I was able to find out? Most of their stories have been lost, just because no one wrote anything about even some of the important details of their lives. It is important that we value and write our stories!
